Nigeria Professional Football League side, Enugu Rangers lost to Tunisian giants Etoile Sportive du Sahel in their third group game of the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday.
Rangers who played out a 1-1 draw with CS Sfaxien away in Tunisia in their second group game of the competition, to have four points from their first two games, suffered 2-1 defeat away in Sahel.
It was the first lost of the group stages for Rangers who were unbeaten in their last eight CAF ConfederationS Cup games before they traveled to face Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia.
Rangers opened scoring in the encounter through Bright Silas as early as the 15th minute to shock their hosts but the lead lasted for 20 minute as Iheb Msakni equalised for Etoile in the 35th minute.
Constant pressure from Etoile du Sahel paid off when Saddam Ben Aziza beat the Enugu Rangers defence and put the hosts in front in the 64th minute.
Despite the defeat, Rangers remained second in the group.
The coach, Gbenga Ogunbote side will hope to avenge the lose when they take on Etoile du Sahel in their next group game, scheduled for Sunday, march 3 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium.
