The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the February 23rd presidential election and the incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari was declared winner of the keenly contested 2019 Presidential election.

President Buhari polled a total of fifteen million, one hundred and ninety one thousand , eight hundred and forty seven to defeat his opponent.

· Muhammadu Buhari age, now the president of Nigeria is 76 years old

· He was born on 17 December 1942 in Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria.

· Buhari was born into a Fulani family as a twenty-third child in his family.

· His father’s name is Hardo Adamu Buhari, and mother, Zulaihat Buhari. However, Buhari was raised by his single mom after his father died.

* * Buhari graduated primary school in Daura and continued his education in Katsina Provincial Secondary school. 

* · In 1962, at the age of 19 Muhammadu Buhari enrolled at Nigerian Military Training College. This was the beginning of his successful military career.

·  * Buhari graduated officer cadet training at Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot in England.

· At the age of 20 (1963), Buhari was appointed Platoon Commander of the Second Infantry Battalion in Abeokuta, Nigeria.

· In July 1966 
Lieutenant Muhammadu Buhari was one of the participants in the "July Rematch" or so called "Counter-Coup", led by Lt-Col Murtala Muhammed, that overthrew and assassinated Nigeria's first self-appointed military Head of State General Aguiyi Ironsi.

· During his 20 months rule, about 500 officials, politicians, and businessmen were arrested for corruption.

*   War Against Indiscipline (WAI) was one of Buhari’s policies, and in fact legacies, when he was the country’s military head of state. The policy was created on Tuesday, March 20, 1984. The policy was directed towards a lack of public morality and instituting a high sense of civic responsibility. Late coming to work by public servants was severely frowned at as latecomers were made to “frog jump”.

· Buhari was the chairman of Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) under the late General Sani Abacha. The PTF was charged with responsibility to create developments around the country and was funded by the money generated from the increase in petroleum products.

After he was overthrown, Buhari was detained for three years in a guarded bungalow in Benin city.

· The name of Buhari’s first wife is Safinatu Buhari, they had five children. Their names are Zulaihat (deceased daughter), Fatima, Musa (deceased son), Hadiza, and Safinatu.

* The president-elect has eight prestigious awards and they are: Congo Medal (CM) Defence Service Medal (DSM) Defence Service Medal (Nigeria) General Service Medal (GSM) General Service Medal (Nigeria) Global Seal of Integrity (GSOI) Gran Collar De La Orden De La Independencia translated as Grand Collar of the Order of the Independence was conferred on Buhari by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea at the Presidential Palace on 14 March 2016 Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR) Loyal Service and Good Conduct Medal (LSGCM) Loyal Service and Good Conduct Medal (Nigeria) National Service Medal (NSM).

· Muhammadu Buhari called himself "converted democrat." This shows his political development from being a military dictator to a democrat.

· The term Buharism is coined after the name of the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, and it refers to the economic principles and the political ideology of the military government led by Buhari.

* President Buhari was the first person to unseat a sitting president in Nigeria.

· Buhari led the military command that defended the Nigerian territory against the Chadian military force in 1983. The Chadian military forces invaded the country but Buhari pushed the force off the country’s territory.

· On 7 May 1984, Buhari announced the country's 1984 National Budget. The budget came with a series of complementary measures:A temporary ban on recruiting federal public sector workers, Raising of Interest rates, Halting Capital Projects, Prohibition of borrowing by State governments, 15 percent cut from Shagari's 1983 Budget, Realignment of import duties, Reducing the balance of payment deficit by cutting imports, It also gave priority to the importation of raw materials and spare parts that were needed for agriculture and industry.

* In 1984, Buhari passed Decree Number 4, the Protection Against False Accusations Decree, considered by scholars as the most repressive press law ever enacted in Nigeria.

· Decree 20 on illegal ship bunkering and drug trafficking was another example of Buhari's tough approach to crime. Section 3 (2) (K) provided that "any person who, without lawful authority deals in, sells, smokes or inhales the drug known as cocaine or other similar drugs, shall be guilty under section 6 (3) (K) of an offence and liable on conviction to suffer death sentence by firing squad."

* In July 2014, Buhari escaped a bomb attack on his life by Boko Haram in Kaduna, 82 people were killed.
