Do you know why you have brown teeth? Here are the reasons and what you can do to get a sparkling white teeth.

let's talk about DISCOLORATION (Of The Teeth) 👄

Discoloration simply means stain I.e, when your teeth/tooth changes from white to brown
It can also be defined as the state of being discolored; alteration of HUE(A color, or shade of color; tint; dye) or appearance.

Believe me, those with this defects are so shy and always embarrassed to laugh in public, they just smile ☺ trying not to make their teeth visible, while some build the courage to smile with minimal teeth exposure.👍

A common question asked by patients with discolored teeth is, “can stains be removed from teeth?” To answer this question, it must first be said that there are two types of tooth stains: intrinsic and extrinsic. The answer to whether or not a stain can be removed is dependent on whether the stain is intrinsic or extrinsic.

INTRINSIC -- This is when the inner structure of the tooth (the dentin-- calcified tissue that makes up the second layer of teeth. ) darkens or gets a yellow tint.

Intrinsic stains are stains that occur within the teeth. This type of staining can be caused by certain medications, trauma to the tooth, genetics, and advanced age. Intrinsic stains can affect all teeth, one, or just a few at a time. Whitening treatments cannot penetrate the inner layers of the tooth and therefore cannot remove intrinsic staining.

EXTRINSIC -- This occurs when the outer layer of the tooth (the enamel-- is the thin outer covering of the tooth, and hardest tissue in the human body ) is stained.

Extrinsic stains are stains that occur on the outside of the teeth. These stains affect the outer surface of the teeth on the enamel. This type of discoloration is caused by lifestyle choices and time. Dark beverages such as tea, coffee, and cola can all stain the enamel.

Enamel can also dull and yellow as we age. Smoking cigarettes causes the teeth to turn yellow. Your local herbs 🌿 too causes discoloration  There are special whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes that can make a bit of a difference on extrinsic staining. For dramatic results, a professional whitening treatment from your dentist can be fast and effective.

PREVENTION 😁
Avoid foods and drinks that increase discoloration: Regularly consuming deeply colored foods and drinks, like beets, coffee, and red wine, can stain the teeth. Avoid such foods to help keep your teeth looking their best. Drink with a straw: Reduce soda, wine, or coffee contact with your teeth by using a straw...to crown it all, brush your teeth twice daily, rinse your mouth anytime you eat or drink to eliminate any remains, floss regularly and visit your dental therapist every 6months for proper cleaning.

TEETH STAINS CANNOT ALWAYS BE REMOVED, BUT A WHITE SMILE CAN HAPPEN.

Talk to your dentist about getting the smile of your dreams.
