Do You Know Some Fruits can Poison You and Make You Sick to Death? Here are some interesting Facts about Fruits...
We do eat fruit produced from plants every day or time but we do not know the one that carries lethal poisons. Most of us think that eating fruit can be nothing but healthy, but the truth is...there are hidden dangers in many common foods. Poisons that make you sick, paralyze and even kill you are hidden in some of our favorites.
People accidentally kill themselves by ignorantly eating the wrong part of a plant or fruit. In order to ensure that this never happens to you, here is a list of poisonous fruits you have to be careful dealing with...
* Almonds
Almonds are dry fruits with a unique taste but there is one problem: they are full of cyanide. Before consumption, bitter almonds must be processed to remove the poison. Heating destroys the poison. Consuming unheated ones is highly toxic.
* Cashews
Raw cashews contain urushiol, which is the same chemical that you’d find in poison ivy. It can cause the body to have a very similar reaction to one experienced from poison oak or ivy. If a high level of urushiol is ingested, it can be deadly. Cashew poisoning is rare, but those who handle them in order to manufacture them to get the shell off sometimes experience the side-effects.
* Cherries
You can eat cherries raw, cook them, bake them, and get them tart or sweet. Despite their overall red goodness, cherries are toxic. If a cherry pip is chewed, crushed, or somehow damaged, it automatically produces hydrogen cyanide. Symptoms of mild poisoning include headache, dizziness, confusion, anxiety, and vomiting. Larger doses can lead to difficulty breathing, increased blood pressure and heart rate, and kidney failure. Reactions can include coma, convulsions, and death from respiratory arrest.
* Asparagus
Vegetable usually means an edible plant or part of a plant other than a sweet fruit or seed. This typically means the leaf, stem, or root of a plant. So the veggie part is not poisonous and is eaten, but the fruit is. So an Asparagus is a vegetable that gives fruit! Yes, a vegetable that gives fruit, a poisonous . Asparagus has been used from early times as a vegetable and medicine, owing to its delicate flavour and diuretic properties.
* Tomatoes
Technically, a tomato is an ovary. The leaves and stems of the tomato plant contain a chemical called “Glycoalkaloid” which causes extreme nervousness and stomach upsets. Despite this, they can be used in cooking to enhance flavor, but they must be removed before eating.
* Mushrooms
Not every mushroom is created equal. Cremini mushrooms might make perfect pasta toppers, but some species contain poisons that can kill.
* Rhubarb Leaves
Rhubarb might bake up all kinds of delicious sweets, but the leaves are poisonous, causing breathing trouble, seizures, kidney failure, and in some cases, death.
* Peanuts
One of the most common allergies is to peanuts. The most severe response is anaphylaxis, which can lead to severe constriction of the airways, shock, and even loss of consciousness. It is dangerous enough to cause death if left untreated, so know your allergies.
* Stone Fruit Seeds and Apple Seeds
Apples and stone fruits — cherries, plums, apples, pears, peaches, and apricots — are nature's candy, but stay away from the seeds (as well as the bark and leaves).
They contain amygdalin, a compound that produces cyanide. Large doses can lead to dizziness and vomiting, increased blood pressure, kidney failure, coma, and even death.
* Elderberry
Elderberry plant, used in medicinal syrups, sodas, and liquors, can cause a severely upset stomach, so stay away from the stems and leaves.
